Ambition comes from a place of drive, a desire to improve, and step out of the comfort zone. As ambition grows, so too will the clients we work with. Read our previous clients' reviews of Ambition Sport Psychology and learn how we have supported them throughout their journey.
Brad has made an impact on our players' ability to develop a greater understanding of themselves, which ultimately will lead to better people and improved performances.
Working with Brad has been really positive. He is personable, professional, and open-minded in his approach to the scope and direction of work within our national programme. He has built great relationships with both the players and also the staff, always focusing on putting the client first.
He sees the players not just as athletes but you people. His ability to build and maintain relationship with players has had a direct influence on the quality of service he provides and the goals we are trying to achieve with our players.
Brad has adapted his approach to the differing ages and experiences, which has helped influence the quality of service. The scope of his work has included goal-setting, developing partner-led values, and providing support strategies for parents.
We hope Brad can continue working with Scotland’s best juniors in our programme for the foreseeable future.
I first started working with Brad in March 2024 after being connected through Scottish Archery. In the past, sports psychology had been part of my support structure, often provided directly by my coaches. While this worked well, my current coaching setup didn’t offer it in the same way, and I felt I had reached a point where mental preparation was the missing piece to unlocking my full potential. I knew I had the skills to perform at a higher level, but there was a gap between that ability and my performance in training and competition. I believed working with Brad could help me close that gap.
From our very first session, Brad’s approach has been completely individualised. He has helped me identify the specific situations I find most challenging and given me tools and frameworks to navigate them more effectively. He listens actively, brings in theory only when it adds value, and draws on his own experiences to make concepts relatable. The strategies we’ve worked on are tailored to me and my sport, giving me a language and a mindset to manage high-pressure moments more effectively.
Brad creates a wholly safe and open environment, even though all of our sessions have been virtual. This hasn’t taken away from the depth or quality of the conversations - in fact, it’s made them easy to access and consistent. I’ve felt comfortable discussing challenges and experimenting with new approaches without judgment.
I would recommend Brad to any athlete looking for sports psychology support. He is flexible, relaxed, and genuinely curious, with an ability to quickly pick up sport-specific language.
Whether you need help with mental preparation, performance consistency, or understanding the psychological side of your sport, Brad brings the right balance of support, challenge, and expertise.
Brad excelled in building strong, trusted relationships with our young players when working as a Wellbeing Coach.
He worked with male players aged 14 - 17 and was able to connect with them, encouraging them to open up about what was important to them.
In his private conversations with players, they were comfortable opening up about challenges they faced, such as balancing the demands of being an academy footballer, dealing with injuries, and dealing with normative and non-normative transitions.
Brad also created and delivered workshops to up to 30 young players a time on topics important to their wellbeing and development on and off the pitch. He communicated in an engaging manner to get across important messages to the players.
Brad's approach has been an important part of our programme , helping players understand that they are more than just footballers and to consider other areas of their life to help them grow as people as well as players. He has successfully adapted his approach to meet the individual needs of all the players he has worked with.
Working with Brad has been a turning point in my game. I had been struggling badly with the yips, where I couldn’t get my foot forward when delivering the bowl. It was frustrating, and it was taking the enjoyment out of playing. A friend suggested Brad might be able to help, and I’m so glad I took that advice.
From the start, Brad listened closely to what I was experiencing and helped me understand why it was happening. He guided me through changes to my delivery and the way I think about my game, giving me practical advice and tools I could apply straight away. Over time, I’ve taken on board the things he’s said and have been able to put them into action.
The result is that I’m now almost back to where I want to be - playing with more confidence, enjoying the sport again, and looking forward to matches instead of dreading them. Brad is easy to speak to, makes you feel comfortable, and always works with you to find the best solution.
I would recommend Brad to anyone who feels stuck, frustrated, or unsure about their game. His approach is supportive, practical, and genuinely focused on helping you get back to performing at your best.
It's all well and good supporting someone when things are going well, but I think it's more important to find ways to navigate psychological challenges that are affect performance in your sport. Brad did a wonderful job of being that sounding board to reflect, discuss and challenge me to come up with solutions that work for me.
Using a holistic approach, he ensure that whenever we faced setbacks and challenges, we were using the support network he provided to find ways to improve our situation.
Brad has taught me that there has to be a degree of resilience developed outside sport. As he explained, you can't really control your thoughts but you can control your behaviours that inevitably impact the thoughts and feelings you’re having. Ultimately, this has really benefitted me and has been somewhat of a transformational process.
As someone who was going through a transition from being a top D1 NCAA athlete to a less formal and less competitive zone of competition, I initially struggled with a lack of enjoyment. Trying to rediscover my ‘why’ and set goals made me want to compete again.
The process of working with Brad was easy. It was an extremely daunting thought to reach out for support to open up fully about my struggles with performance anxiety, which was negatively impacting my sport. Brad tailored the sessions to make them relatable to my situation and helped me navigate through the course with no judgement, only support. He helped me identify the root causes of my performance anxiety, providing coping mechanisms to deal with them and most importantly, helped me find enjoyment from the sport I love again. I cannot thank him enough for the help he gave me.
I have never felt more in control of myself. I no longer really consider performance anxiety as a major issue and now actively look forward to playing important games. I find myself much more confident in high-pressure scenarios. If I do find myself struggling again or experiencing a blip, i have processes, routines and mechanisms to deal with this in the most positive manner.
I could not be more grateful to Brad for the help he has given me and would actively encourage anyone who is apprehensive of Sports Psychology to get in touch with him.

I started working with Brad around 6 weeks before Ryan and I flew out to America to compete at the Hyrox WC in Chicago.
Ryan and I attended Brad’s sessions together to get a much better understanding of our views and thoughts after our first race in Stockholm. This really helped us to make sense of our experience and go to Chicago with a clear race day plan.
Brad is very good at drawing out thoughts and concerns that you possibly don’t know you have. Once these come to light it’s a great way to view your thoughts differently within training and on race day.
Brads service is nothing but professional. He made me feel at ease with the way he approached all areas. This was the first time I have worked with him and couldn’t recommend him enough.
This service isn’t something that crossed my mind before. I do feel after these sessions a weight has shifted from me, and I think that is important when you are competing and training at a high level. Mindset is a huge part of performance.
I would 100% recommend Brad is you are serious about competing and training within the Hyrox and running space.

Due to a bad injury on my knee before the season started, I had a lot of self doubt and trauma around the injury.
I also couldn’t escape the feeling of being scared that when I came back that I’d reinjure my knee. Brad has helped me massively in realising why I feel a certain way and helped me identify the why’s & how’s.
Working with Brad has given me clear ideas on how to cope with how I feel and strategies to use daily. He’s also helped me build acceptance for things, knowing it is okay to have bad thoughts but use them as a positive and also not discount those feelings because they’ll always be there.
Now I feel I can manage my thoughts and feelings much better. I would highly recommend Brad to anyone looking to understand the different emotions they may feel in any sport. He’s also very approachable and takes in everything you say which is really helpful.
Brad also relates through reference to his own thoughts and feelings at times which makes it easier to express your feelings too.
